Where to find 2026 summer reading guides on a budget
by 184yw8rhwhr
It was so much fun releasing the 2026 Summer Reading Guide yesterday – thank you so much for all your enthusiasm, excitement, and kind notes!
What if you haven’t checked out the extended version of the 2026 Summer Reading Guide with more than 60 books instead of the 20 in the blog version? Just enter your email address below and it will come straight to your inbox! You won’t want to miss it!
Of course, I want everyone to have access to the books they want to read and so, as usual, we include a list of some places where you can get these books for free or cheap.
Obviously, this isn’t a complete list of all the places you could get these titles, but these are some of my favorite places.
Here’s a quick summary of the sources we checked (and I say “we” because my team did most of the work here):
Amazon Music. This is SUCH an underutilized offer in my opinion: if you have Amazon Music Unlimited, you can listen to one free audiobook per month (any existing audiobook in the Audible catalog), and it’s totally separate from your Audible subscription, so even if you have Audible, you can take advantage of the current offer for Amazon Music! Do yourself a favor and get this!
Abe books. This is one of my favorite places to get used books online. They have great prices and most books have free shipping with no minimum order. What’s wrong?!
BetterWorldBooks. This is a great resource for used books, plus they use some of the proceeds to help support literacy programs. And you can use code NEW10 for an extra 10% off already low prices.
Thrift Books. This is a great resource for sourcing second hand books on a budget! Free shipping on any order over $15!
Libro.fm. This is one of my favorite sources for audiobooks: it’s similar to Audible, super easy to use, has a gigantic selection, and helps support independent bookstores. You can get 3 audiobooks for $14.99 here.
Audiobooks.com. This is another good alternative to Audible and you can choose any two books from their library for free with a 30-day trial.
Audible. Audible is the reigning king of audiobooks and if you’ve never tried it, you can choose any book from their huge collection here for free.
Everand. It used to be called Scribd but they changed the name and configuration quite significantly – you can read a full overview of how it works now here and you can sign up for a 30-day free trial here. (I think Everand is best for HEAVY consumers: at one listen a month, I don’t think it can compete with Audible or LibroFM but for three listens a month, it’s one of the best options available!).
Hope. This is a service provided by public libraries, so if your library has a subscription you’re in luck. There are no waiting lines on ebooks or audiobooks (you’re simply limited to a certain number of checkouts per month – that number is set by your library system), and collection is (mostly) the same across library systems.
I hope this helps make summer reading accessible and easy for you and your families!

Love stories:

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
