Last year I asked you what the best audiobook you listened to in 2024 was (that list here if you missed it!) and it was so popular and fun that I did it again this year!

Many of these I’ve read and loved and some of them are brand new to me – you better believe I’ve added a lot of them to my TBR so quickly!

And right now, Audible is bringing back their 3 month deal for 99 cents a month (it’s only available for a few days!) so if you haven’t grabbed it yet, now is the time – they have the BEST selection of audiobooks on the planet and we use Audible literally every day in our house!

And now, let’s talk about the 19 most popular audiobooks of 2025!

The best audiobooks of 2025 by followers

#1 – Virginia Evans Correspondent
I’m not normally drawn to epistolary novels (books written in letters) and after reading this, my opinion hasn’t changed. But don’t let that stop you from listening to it because obviously this is generating a lot of buzz and others LOVED it! Sybil Van Antwerp writes letters every day – to friends, authors and even people who have hurt her – to give meaning to life. But when someone from her past reaches her, she is forced to face painful memories and finally send the one letter she’s kept to herself for years.

#2 – Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid
I’m a HUGE fan of Taylor Jenkins Reid, but surprisingly I haven’t read this new one of hers! It’s set in the 1980s during the time of the Space Shuttle launches – it sounds intriguing and I can see why many of you loved it too!

#3 – The Unselected Diaries of Emma M. Lion by Beth Brower
If you’ve been around for a while, you know I love this series! I had read the entire series twice before they came out in audio and was so excited to try the audio version – wait until you hear all the narrator’s voices! And if you’ve struggled to access physical books, I’m telling you that the audiobook really helps.

#4 – Layne Fargo’s Favorites
Whoa, I loved this book! Vibrations similar to Daisy Jones and the six with a pinch of Wuthering Heights. Katerina Shaw and Heath Rocha met when they were young and became very close friends. Both grew up in dysfunctional families and find a safe space together, eventually teaming up as ice dancing partners and aiming for Olympic gold. But you better believe there will be a LOT of drama along the way! It’s told like a documentary which is SO entertaining! There is some language and spice, but I loved this engaging audiobook!

#5 – The Trees of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson
This was our audiobook of choice for our family trip and it was a huge hit! I chose the version with the full cast, and it was a fantastic choice: there are so many different voices, original music and sound effects and it was an extraordinary listen that had us all hooked from the first minutes. Tress has been living a peaceful life until her beloved friend (and… maybe more than a friend?) is taken away on a trip by her father and a catastrophe strikes. Now Tress is ready to leave behind everything she has ever known to stowaway aboard a ship and sail across the mysterious seas where even a single drop of water can mean death for all on board.

#6 – The Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy
I have received TONS of messages from people throughout the year with mixed reviews, good and bad. But I’m happy to hear that it was a success for most of you! This is the story of a father and his three children who live on a small seed-protecting island off the coast of Australia. The water is rising, which means they will have to leave soon. But when a mysterious, half-dead woman washes ashore, many secrets between the father and the new woman come into play.

#7 – Unsolicited Guide to the Vera Wong Murders by Jesse Q. Sutanto
Vera owns a tea shop in San Francisco’s Chinatown. There’s nothing he loves more than tea… but after finding a body in his tea shop and stealing evidence, he thinks he can use his detective skills to solve the murder. After luring the suspects with tea and home-cooked meals, can Vera discover what secrets they hide and frame the killer once and for all?

#8 – My Friends by Fredrik Backman
Another new release that I haven’t read yet, this one was very lively and filled with tons of bestseller lists, awards, and book clubs! After losing her best friend and growing old without foster care, eighteen-year-old Louisa is alone—until a chance meeting with a famous artist leaves her in charge of his most famous painting. She and one of her old friends hit the road to the seaside town where it all began, discovering the friendship and summer that inspired it all.

#9 – The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah
If it’s narrated by Julia Whelan, I’m 100% hooked! Set during the Great Depression, it follows Elsa as drought and dust ravage her farm and force her to choose between the possibility of a better life and the people she loves. So emotional and incredibly moving. (Full review here.)

#10 – Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman
This was totally off my radar! Sci-fi/fantasy isn’t always my go-to for audiobooks, but I was shocked by how many of you called this the best audiobook of 2025. Earth transforms into a giant TV dungeon where Carl (plus his ex’s very opinionated and now-talking cat) must fight monsters, beat the clock, and conquer an alien audience to survive, which is perfect if you love video game vibes and non-stop action.

#11 – The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
I can’t tell you how long I waited in line to see this book when it came out. And when I finally finished it, it was worth it. (This is the book that brought her to stardom.) In World War II France, two sisters face frightening situations that test their relationship, their strength, and their sense of right and wrong. It’s a true story of courage. I listened The nightingale audiobook and it’s fantastically done. And if you’ve read it and want to know more, here are some other titles you might want to check out!

#12 – Wedding People by Alison Espach
This was one of my Book of the Month books and I was instantly hooked. It’s the story of a woman who arrives at a luxury hotel as the only occupant who isn’t there for a wedding. He immediately clicks with the bride and they start sharing their stories with each other, which is a surprise to both of them. This has a ton of trigger warnings, but it worked for me.

#13 – The Road to Tender Hearts by Annie Hartnett
An unlucky lottery winner suddenly becomes the guardian of two orphaned children and sets off on a chaotic road trip across America with his own adult daughter (and a cat that predicts death) while visiting his high school crush. I hear this is full of crazy adventures and evokes all the emotions! It’s funny, touching and also heartbreaking.

be ready when luck comes

#14 – Be Ready When Luck Comes by Ina Garten
I love memoirs read by the author and Ina Garten is such a pleasure to listen to and a wonderful storyteller. I flipped through it on a plane flight and it made the hours fly by. I love knowing how many of you loved it last year too!

#15 – Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell
This bestselling historical novel offers a deeper look at the life, marriage, and loss of a child Shakespeare experienced before writing one of his most famous works Hamlet. I’ve been hearing about this book since it came out and can’t wait to read it!

#17 – The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown
Fantasy isn’t typically my favorite genre, but this seems like something I could pick up. When a mysterious customer leaves Cassie with a strange book that can open doors to any part of the world, her quiet life as a bookseller turns into a whirlwind of travel, secrets and real dangers.

#18 – The Great Solitaire by Kristin Hannah
This book is almost ten years old and is still on the best books list and for good reason. When I read it seven years ago I went through 400 pages in three days. It’s the story of a teenager who moves to Alaska with her mother and father, recently released as a prisoner of war, who fought in Vietnam and is convinced that Alaska will give him the fresh start he needs. Covering more than a decade of Leni’s life, she gets a front row seat to her father’s inability to handle the darkness falling on Alaska and the darkness he is battling within himself. I couldn’t put it down. Keep in mind that you will want your tissues for this.

#19 – Born a Crime by Trevor Noah
This sound original is a must add to your list. You may have seen Trevor Noah on the Daily Show, but his life began as a crime. He was the child of a multiracial marriage that was illegal during apartheid South Africa. This witty and honest memoir is the perfect book to add to any book club and is one of those books that everyone mentions when they talk about books made 100 times better by the audio version (of course, it’s read by the author).
