What are the qualities of a PCA Coach of the Year?

A great coach is …

• A teacher – a coach who teaches life skills through sport, helping athletes to grow both inside and outside the field.
• A motivator – A coach who encourages the effort rather than fear of errors, showing that growth derives from trying and learning.
• A lawyer – A coach who supports the game, helping to remove barriers such as costs, equipment or opportunities.
• A model – A coach who model respect and integrity, guiding athletes to honor the rules, referees, opponents and teammates.
• A community manufacturer – A coach who promotes belonging, ensuring that each child feels valued and welcomed.
• A leader – A coach who leads with empathy and compassion, creating a favorable environment for all athletes.
• A supporter – A coach who supports athletes with positive reinforcement, rather than fear, intimidation or shame.

How does the PCA Coach of the Year program work?

The PCA will reward 25 finalists and 10 national winners between coaches appointed in the United States who embody the ideal of fighting to win, while pursuing the most important goal of teach life skills through sport.

Applications can come from a school leader or a youthful sports organization, by a colleague coach, a parent, an athlete, a friend or a family member.

All national winners will receive 500 dollars, a certificate and recognition on the website, on the newsletters and on the media campaigns of the PCA.

The winner of the National Coach of the Year will receive $ 5,000 for his school or program and an all -inclusive trip for two people in the San Francisco bay area to receive the prize in person at the annual Game Changers Awards & Benefit of the PCA in the spring of 2026.

You can appoint your coach for the PCA Coach of the Year 2026 award until December 1, 2025.

In order to be appointed, a coach must:

• Have at least 3 years of experience as a coach
• Coach in the United States.
• Do not be a previous national double -goal or winner of the coach of the year.
• Don’t apply.
