A slow cooker is an easy way to infuse your home with the warm, inviting scents of the season. Gather just a handful of ingredients like oranges, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and apple juice, place them in the Hamilton Beach® slow cooker and enjoy this all-natural air freshener, perfect for the most wonderful time of the year.
Capture the scents of the season with a slow cooker
Every year I purchase inexpensive mulled wine spices from a cooking store and simmer them all season long in my Hamilton Beach slow cooker. Starting the day after Thanksgiving, I throw these spices in a slow cooker and my kids know right away that the holidays are approaching. It really makes my house smell as magical as the season. And it’s easy to let the mixture simmer in a slow cooker instead of on the gas stovetop.
There are many ways to customize this recipe. For example, if you prefer an earthier scent, you can replace citrus and cinnamon with nutmeg and cranberries. I also like to add chopped rosemary and mix in some star anise. Follow our slow cooker tips below or experiment with your own recipe.
Remember to turn off the slow cooker before going to bed (or program it if you have a programmable slow cooker).
