A weekend of book deals on January 10th
by 184yw8rhwhr
It’s the first weekend back to normal life around here and the return seemed a bit difficult!!
We’re going to have brunch with some friends this morning and then I’ll catch up on some work and do a puzzle (this is the one I just started!).
Here are some book deals you won’t want to miss this weekend! (This is a GOOD week for book deals!)

No Ordinary Time: Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt: The Home Front in World War II by Doris Kearns Goodwin – ebook – $3.99
I never like reading abridged versions of anything, but in this case I made an exception because the abridged version is read by Edward Herrmann (he’s the grandfather of Gilmore Girls and also reads the audio versions of both Uninterrupted AND The boys on the boat). Basically, if he reads it, I want to hear it. However, I’m almost done with it and I think I want to go back and listen to the full version which is 39 hours long instead of 6. Obviously it was VERY shortened.

Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend – audiobook – $3.99
Morrigan Crow was born on Eventide, the unluckiest day for the birth of a child, and therefore lives a cursed life. As she awaits her fate, she is whisked away to the safety of a secret, magical city called Nevermoor. He discovers that to remain safe in Nevermoor he must compete in four difficult tests and discover his extraordinary talent, or he will have to leave the city and face his mortal destiny. (Plus, this is a Libro.FM deal, so you can use it to make a Yoto card!)

The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling – audiobook – $1.99
It’s always fun to read a title that a Disney movie is based on and then compare what’s the same and what’s different. (Plus, this is a Libro.FM deal, so you can use it to make a Yoto card!)

The Griffin Sisters’ Greatest Hits by Jennifer Weiner – audiobook – $7.99
This really sucked me in (and broke my heart)! Sisters Cassie and Zoe rose to fame as the Griffin Sisters in the early 2000s, only to fade from the spotlight after a sudden and inexplicable breakup. Now, two decades later, Zoe’s daughter is determined to uncover the truth, forcing all three women to reckon with the past.

The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas – audiobook – $1.99
If you haven’t tackled this classic yet, consider this your sign! The young d’Artagnan teams up with the Three Musketeers to defend their honor, outsmart Cardinal Richelieu’s guards, protect the Queen, and confront the dangerously intelligent Milady. And after almost 24 hours of listening, you decidedly you get your money’s worth with this one.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain – audiobook – $1.99
Tom Sawyer makes me so angry, but otherwise I’m so happy I read this classic. When a boy from a Mississippi River town embarks on wild adventures with a runaway slave, encountering feuds, fake royalty, and even Tom Sawyer’s aunt… you know this will be the perfect adventure novel. (Plus, this is a Libro.FM deal, so you can use it to make a Yoto card!)

A Bear Called Paddington by Michael Bond – audiobook – $4.99
You can’t go wrong with this classic about a bear found in a train station who loves orange marmalade and accidentally always gets into trouble. (Plus, this is a Libro.FM deal, so you can use it to make a Yoto card!)

The Unselected Diaries of Emma M. Lion Vol. 1 by Beth Brower – audiobook – $4.99
I will never stop sharing when Emma M. Lion goes on sale! And I’m thrilled to see that the first book in the series is a great deal in audiobook terms. If you didn’t like physical books much, audiobooks are great – my teenage daughter is thrilled with them and my husband has joined in too.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne – audiobook – $1.99
When the hunt for a sea monster leads to capture aboard Captain Nemo’s secret submarine, a marine biologist and his companions are drawn into a breathtaking underwater adventure filled with danger, discovery, and a captain with dark secrets.

The Call of the Wild by Jack London – audiobook – $1.99
This classic adventure tells the story of Buck, a spoiled dog who is suddenly forced to survive as a sled dog on the frozen Klondike. It’s intense, emotional and surprisingly moving – a great choice if you want a timeless story that really sticks with you.

Die With Zero by Bill Perkins – audiobook – $4.99
This is a money book like no other. It’s been a really fascinating and helpful way to think about how I spend my life and what I want from the money I earn. It seems like one of those books that almost everyone would get something out of!

The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to a Happy Life by Meik Wiking – audiobook – $4.99
THE Little book of Hyggeaims to explore the Danish phenomenon “hygge”: what it is and how you can implement it in your life. It is written by Meik Wiking, CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen, a person who knows hygge very well.

Henry and Beezus by Beverly Cleary – audiobook – $4.99
In our family, Beverly Cleary’s books are definitely in our top 5 (especially when it comes to audio). We have read many together and my girls love reading and listening on their own. And I love Henry Huggins. (Plus, this is a Libro.FM deal, so you can use it to make a Yoto card!)

Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo – audiobook – $4.99
Ximoara Batista wants to say many things, but not only does she feel unheard, she feels like she can’t say what she wants. He pours out all his feelings and frustrations on the pages of a leather notebook, but he can’t let Mami find out and keeps his thoughts to himself. When she is invited to join her school’s slam poetry club, she tries to find a way to participate without her mother finding out.
