The best audiobooks for sale on Audible

For children

the book about the tuck shop warsthe book about the tuck shop wars

The Tuck Shop Wars by Brandon Mull – $2.40
10 hours and 26 minutes
My girls have listened to it non-stop over the years and this price is crazy!

The Book of Dragon MastersThe Book of Dragon Masters

Rise of the Earth Dragon by Tracey West – $2.67
48 minutes
Clocking in at nearly an hour, this fantasy adventure is perfect for an afternoon at home or lots of errands around town in the car. Most of the books in the series are at this amazing price!

I survived Pearl HarborI survived Pearl Harbor

Series I Survived by Lauren Tarshis – $3.05 each
1 hour and 16 minutes
Almost all books in this series cost less than $3! These are perfect for the nonfiction and historical fiction lover in your life! So many great historical topics written in a very engaging way! And if your kids end up loving them, I have a whole post here with other titles like the I Survived series.

Nothing but miracles of Kate Albus – $2.41
7 hours and 17 minutes
His book A place to hang the moonwas my favorite read aloud of 2022, and this is his latest historical fiction title. This is also set during World War II, and follows three brothers in New York City, as their father leaves to fight in the war. I read it aloud to my girls and we loved it!

THE Arnold Lobel Audio Collection By Arnold Lobel – $3.96
57 minutes
I absolutely love Arnold Lobel! You probably know him best for The frog and the toad are friendsbut this collection is an hour of pure pleasure. Includes four other bizarre and fascinating stories: Owl at home it’s my favorite. I’ve read it to my girls dozens of times over the years and the audiobook version is truly top notch.

Absinthe AbbeyAbsinthe Abbey

Wormwood Abbey Series by Christmas Baehr – $2.45
5 hours and 27 minutes
This one made it to the 2025 Summer Reading Guide and for good reason! They have been a big hit in our house, especially with my 12 and 14 year old sons. Set in Victorian England, the series follows Edith and her family, dragon protectors who inherit an abbey in Yorkshire. They discover dragons on the property and must protect them from the outside world. With a courageous protagonist, a fantastic setting, and great character development, this YA series with a twist of fantasy is an absolute delight. (And the best part? The rest of the series is also discounted: each for $3 or less!)

a long walk to the water booka long walk to the water book

A Long Walk to the Water by Linda Sue Park – $2.94
2 hours and 41 minutes
I’ve loved Linda Sue Park ever since I read this A single fragment years ago, and this bestseller is about two eleven-year-olds from Sudan. One is a girl in 2008; the other is a boy from 1985.

Faker by Gordan Korman – $2.80
5 hours and 53 minutes
I’ve never read it, but I absolutely love it Fraud by Gordan Korman (also on sale for $1.56!) and would love to try another book of his. Trey knows the drill. Trey goes to a new school, makes new friends, his father makes new friends, tricks them all into some sort of plan, and then they flee town. (There are tons of other Gordan Korman books on great sale for under $3!)

Go Ahead, Mr. Bowditch by Jean Lee Latham – $6.32
6 hours and 45 minutes
This Newberry winner follows Nat (the real Nathaniel Bowditch), a math whiz who went from indentured servant to sea hero. It changes the world of navigation and proves that knowledge can really save human lives. Perfect for readers who enjoy historical fiction from the Revolutionary War era.

cricket in Times Squarecricket in Times Square

The Cricket in Times Square by George Selden – $5.60
3 hours and 18 minutes
This book is a great book for any elementary school student! With a fun story about a cat, a mouse and a cricket, it’s hard not to love this trio with all their adventures!

GhostGhost

Ghost by Jason Reynolds – $5.51
3 hours and 29 minutes
Another Daily Reading Book Club pick! I look forward to discussing this in July. I read the first book in this series years ago and have been meaning to go back for years and read all four books in the series about four boys chosen for an elite middle school track team. This is a team that could qualify for the Junior Olympics, but only if they can get their act together. Super readable and wonderful. We’ll only discuss the first one in book club, but I plan to read all four!

a single fragmenta single fragment

A Single Shard by Linda Sue Parks – $5.51
3 hours and 12 minutes
As I was working more seriously on reading all the Newbery winners, I picked this up, knowing absolutely nothing about it. A story about potters in 12th century Korea might not sound thrilling, but this book is PHENOMENAL. I listened to it again with my girls a few years ago and we were all blown away. I may have cried several times in the driver’s seat. (Full review here)

the view from the book on Saturdaythe view from the book on Saturday

Saturday’s View by Jenna Lamia – $6.61
4 hours and 41 minutes
This is the first book I remember reading as a child and thinking, “This is a really well-written book.” This is definitely for kids more in the middle age range. There are four main characters and it follows each family and how they intertwine. It’s fantastic!

For adults

every book of shooting starsevery book of shooting stars

Every Falling Star by Sungju Lee – $2.17
9 hours and 24 minutes
This is August’s pick for the Everyday Reading Book Club, so get this copy at a crazy low price if you’re planning on reading along with me! The title tells you everything you need to know about this book written by a boy who grew up in North Korea and managed to escape. I can’t wait!

Comfort and Joy bookComfort and Joy book

Comfort and Joy by Kristin Hannah – $5.80
6 hours and 6 minutes
This was on my holiday reading list last year and I didn’t get around to it, but I’m determined not to miss it this year! I love Kristin Hannah’s historical fiction books, but I never read some of her older books when she wrote mostly contemporary fiction.

Sunrise on the Harvest by Suzanne Collins – $6.78
12 hours and 48 minutes
I wasn’t sure what to expect next The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (which I couldn’t get through), but this Haymitch prequel completely captivated me and reminded me of the hold the original trilogy had on me! Set during the fiftieth Hunger Games, this is the story of Haymitch as a contender in the Hunger Games 24 years before Katniss volunteers as tribute. This is INTENSE and the audio made me feel like I was watching a movie. My 15 year old son loved it too.

meditations for mortalsmeditations for mortals

Meditations for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman – $6.29
4 hours and 4 minutes
I loved this witty and wise guide to embracing life as it is (no matter how messy and imperfect it may be)! If you want meaningful change without the guilt of fast-paced culture, this is for you. I think I’ll buy a copy to have on hand – I could have marked every page. It’s also designed to be read one chapter a day and each chapter is only 2-3 pages long, so it’s very doable!

The festive stand-in bYes Courtney Keisel – $4.75
8 hours and 38 minutes
This book was just pure romantic holiday fun. Summer loves Christmas and all the holidays that surround it, but her boyfriend is too busy with work to attend the many holiday events his family has planned. Desperate to prove to her parents and family that she and Justin are a great couple, she agrees to take Justin’s twin brother to holiday events in Justin’s place. You don’t need to be a genius to figure out what’s going to happen in this book, but it’s just a pleasure to watch it unfold. This has no language or steamy scenes.

A foggy ChristmasA foggy Christmas

A Foggy Christmas by Kortney Keisel – $3.81
8 hours and 35 minutes
I read it in one day: it reminded me a bit of one of my all-time favorite books, What Alice forgot. Sadie wakes up after a skiing accident with no memory of the last 3+ years, including her husband. In her mind, she’s still dating her high school boyfriend and can’t imagine why they broke up and how she ended up married to a guy she doesn’t even know. Nash is devastated but spends the Christmas period trying to help her remember their love story. This one has some heavier themes that give it substance while still being fun and swoony (no language and no spicy scenes).

I speak as fast as possible to bookI speak as fast as possible to book

Talking as Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham – $6.62
4 hours and 35 minutes
I loved Gilmore Girls back in the day and this was just delightful. The audio version is also a really good listen as she reads it herself.

The Trees of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson – $6.99
12 hours and 27 minutes
This made it to the Summer Reading Guide this year because it was an absolute delight for our entire family! We listened to this version with the full cast on a road trip and made some really fun memories listening to them all together! Tress has been living a peaceful life until her beloved friend (and… maybe more than a friend?) is taken away on a trip by her father and a catastrophe strikes. Now Tress is ready to leave behind everything she has ever known to stowaway aboard a ship and sail across the mysterious seas where even a single drop of water can mean death for all on board.

Jacob T. MarleyJacob T. Marley

Jacob T. Marley by William Bennett – $5.71
4 hours and 10 minutes
If you love A Christmas CarolYou won’t want to miss this fascinating take on Jacob Marley, immersing yourself in his ghostly return and the untold story of regret, redemption, and the events that shaped Scrooge’s destiny. This is on my December holiday reading list!
